Quality Assurance Inspector

Summary

Certified to inspect and check parts to ensure compliance with documents, standards and customer requirements with limited oversight.

Essential Functions

  • Visually inspect or check parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Check dimensions, finishes, and welds on precision sheet metal parts, against sketches blueprints, manufacturing planning and specifications.
  • Interpret and follow written instructions, sketches, drawings and documents.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
  • Effectively communicate and provide feedback on quality issues to manufacturing teams.
  • Perform detailed first article inspections.
  • Train other inspectors.
  • Requires successful completion of internal training and testing to certify and earn stamp as Quality Assurance Inspector.
  • Work under limited oversight.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular and acceptable punctuality and attendance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience on precision sheet metal parts in an aerospace or similar precision manufacturing environment.
  • Requires fundamental knowledge of inspection procedures and tools.
  • Capable of inspecting a broad variety of parts.
  • Very high attention to detail and focus on prevention of customer escapes.
  • Requires a general knowledge of company specific manufacturing processes.
  • Capacity to identify and recommend improvements to inspection area and processes.
  • Ability to work alone and also as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and specifications as necessary to perform the job function.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); knows where to find this information at Exotic, and ask for help when necessary.
  • Previous experience with welding and/or welding inspection a plus.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. Work is performed near moving mechanical parts and team member will have exposure to loud noises from operating equipment. The team member is required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment at all times while on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend and kneel.
  • Ability to often reach with hand and arms and grasp.
  • Ability to frequently talk and hear.
  • Ability to constantly stand.
